Infrared Photography Fascinates Me
One day I got initiated to Infrared Photography by a friend of mine, Benoit Gendron, who is actually the person that got me involved with infrared photography. Benoit was a real artist and I thank him today for turning this passion of infrared photography in me at the age of 18. Benoit was very good with a technique that was used in creating highly contrasted pictures using Kodalith film which was also another form of expressing your creativity just as infrared photography as done it for me.
Infrared Photography A Whole New World Of Creativity
Of course this created a desire in me to be creative or if you want more artistic about my own photography. I had heard about Infrared photography at my Chicoutimi Photo Club and decided to find more about it and try it. My first experiment was with Kodak Infrared film the next two images were shot with that film.
You can see the grain and the artistic feeling that film created.
Infrared Photography Offers More Artistic Possibilities
Perfecting my technique with infrared photography, I was able to created pictures that gave me the feeling that I was not only shooting with a camera but rather painting on a canvas my vision of what I saw. What a great feeling for a photographer when you are in front of a subject and you can see in advance what the result will look like.
Later on, I rediscovered infrared photography with my New Canon G1 that reacted so well to infrared until they decided to include a low pass filter in the G series. Here are a few pics that I took with My Canon G1.
Here a few examples taken with a 20D that I got modified by LifePixel a couple of years ago. The feeling and result will never match what film was capable of but I think the result still has an artistic feeling. I just need to find a method that will work for me and be a signature by which I can be recognize for.
Hope you have enjoyed this post, I certainly enjoyed capturing these pictures and I will continue to follow my desire to become more artistic in my way of seeing this world. Nobody has the truth when it comes to the right way to express yourself.
Follow your heart and keep doing what you like is my advice. You will find the zone were you are at your best. Yes if you are not sure about what you like, go ahead and try different things, Infrared, Contemplative photography (Miksang), Landscape, Portrait, Focus Stacking, HDR, Macro, you will eventually find your niche and what you are best at. Photography is all about inspiration, and yes we need your way of seeing things to keek fueling our own creativity and inspiration.
